Two for my old friend Brian |

(12/3/1989)
Black glass eyes in a face of stone,
Closed doors I can't see through.
Living in a fortress all alone,
You won't let me see you.
Eyes should be a window to the heart
But yours let no light pass.
Why do you keep yourself apart,
With eyes of tinted glass?
I know there's a soul hidden inside,
Behind those eyes, somewhere.
Your creativity's used to hide,
It should be used to share.
Open the window, breathe the fresh air.
Stop hiding yourself from me.
Can't you see how much I want to care
For the heart you won't set free?
(1/26/1990)
I miss you, my brother,
Though you're right there,
Though I know I saw you
Just the other day.
Every time I'm near you
Your eyes turn elsewhere,
And every time I talk to you
You seem so far away.
I don't know why you want
To keep yourself apart
From me, and thus so cruelly
My hopes of friendship kill.
Sadly, I lock my caring
In the back of my heart,
Turning away from the emptiness
Your friendship used to fill.
