Fall 1988?
When troubles of the world have wrung me dry,
And left my heart bereft of energy,
And all the answers seem to pass me by,
Your voice can still restore my sanity.
In hectic times, in angry times, and more
Your presence is the refuge that I find.
The calm and patience found behind your door
Can still the storm and tempest in my mind.
I thank you for the special parts of you,
A listening ear, a humor that is sane.
The friendship that I'm glad to share with you
Can often soothe a nagging inner pain.
I live in conflict; you're from conflict freed,
Your feelings lie disused beneath your will.
Your calm can cure my conflict's raging need,
Is there a need in you that I could fill?
